1. Who are you?
2. What do you love to do?
3. Who do you do it for?
4. What do they want or need?
-- to read more about why I believe this is true, check out my blog post "Enrich Your Body, No Matter What You Do."
5. How do they change or transform as a result of what they give them?
They are moved.
In more ways than one. In the most elaborate and well conceived drama, the souls of our audiences are moved towards pity and fear and the catharsis of those emotions. In the most abstract, but passionately danced butoh, our audience experiences a concretely physical tension and release of different muscles in sympathetic resonance with the body of the dancer. These are each literally moving (and consequently healing) to the bodies and spirits of those who see and participate in this kind of work.
